Thanks for helping people experience that following Jesus is not just about getting to Heaven—but finding wholeness. This is where God is moving people. Well done. We’ve just seen the tip of the iceberg…and it’s a big iceberg 🙂

However, you are swinging the pendulum to far in the other direction. Suggesting that Church should be canceled occasionally or often is absurd. I don’t think it should be an either/or proposition. I am fortunate to belong to a Church that has three pastors – one for worship, one for home/small groups, and one for community outreach and missions. Our members are encouraged to be involved in all three areas – not just one or two. I think that is the model we need to look at.

While MANY people equate commitment to a church to commitment to Jesus, I believe the Biblical standard and model is that of a commitment to Jesus as expressed in how we walk out the Bible in our everyday lives AS WELL AS our gathering together in the form of a local fellowship every Sunday (or whatever day of the week we choose). We can’t throw out commitment to a local church body in the name of “we-gotta-live-out-the-Gospel!!”. We can still be engaged in community in a local church (and be the Body living out the Gospel in our relationships with other belivers) and engage the community (by being the Gospel, His “hands and feet”, engaging the world around us) in our everyday lives. I believe this is a balanced approach to living out the Gospel. In short, you need both…based in biblical reality. 🙂

But works alone are not what are required. I believe its faith AND following Jesus. Being Gods hands and feet. Need more people not to be just “pew Christians” who are following Jesus on Sunday when they sit in the pew. What do you do with your life shows your faith.
