Accepting is a step further where the church will actually accept that this is reality and LGBT people are members. Affirming is more proactive in that LGBT people have full equality in the church including being able to use whatever gifts God has given them and the church is on board with struggle for justice and equality outside the church

Jesus showed mercy where ever he went. He showed mercy to everyone but he never left people where they were. We all should have mercy and compassion on those who are struggling with sexuality and gender.. We should always show mercy to those who have surrendered to sexual and gender based sin. But we should never, ever be satisfied to leave people immersed in that sin.
