(Very glad to hear that the “debt relief” from the early 2000s helped, modeled after the year of Jubilee if I remember correctly.) Apparently the country recently reached that “6% growth rate” illusive to many countries, which is thought to be necessary to reduce poverty significantly. But from the interview it sounds like that income is not being distributed, and so is only effectively making a few people rich than the whole country better off. (And since this is based on mining exports… copper, I believe… it is exploiting the country’s small natural wealth to the benefit of very few: and as that wealth is depleted, there is nothing to replace it.) Another example of the “rich getting richer”, and the myth of trickle-down economics. Western nations and economists should learn something from this illustration.

I pray that we in the church will recognize the significance represented in this article.
